Project Management

Project management involves carefully planning and organising effort to accomplish a specific project including ERP system selection or developing an information security policy.

Project management includes developing a project plan, which includes defining project goals and objectives, specifying tasks or how goals will be achieved, what resources are need and associating budgets, timelines for completion.

This also includes implementing the project, along with careful controls to stay on the "critical path", that is, to ensure the plan is being managed accordingly. Project management usually follows major phases (with various titles for these phases), including feasibility study, project planning, implementation, evaluation and support/maintenance.

IT Service Management

Delivery of IT Service Management (ITSM) Services is key to organisations working in the IT Sector and providing IT Services directly to their clients and to IT Departments delivering IT Service Management services to their internal customers.

ITSM is process-focused and in this sense has ties and common interests with process improvement frameworks and methodologies. The discipline is not concerned with the details of how to use a particular vendor's product, or necessarily with the technical details of the systems under management. Instead, it focuses upon providing a framework to structure IT-related activities and the interactions of IT technical personnel with business customers and users.

ISO 20000 - IT Service Management

ISO 20000 is the first worldwide standard specifically designed for IT Service Management. It describes an integral set of IT Service Management processes designed for the effective delivery of service.

The standard consists of two parts ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005 is the formal specification that defines the requirements for an organi
sation to deliver managed services of an acceptable quality.

ISO/IEC 20000-2:2005 is the Code of Practice and describes the best practice for Service Management processes's within the scope of part one of the standard. The Code of Practice is of particular use to organizations preparing to be audited against the standard for certification or are planning IT service management improvements.
